What is the Counter Fraud Unit?

As part of the ongoing drive to tackle fraud within the Family Practitioner Services, a specialist Counter Fraud Unit (CFU) was established. The Unit became fully operational from January 2001.

Based in the Central Services Agency, the CFU has a dual remit:

Tackling fraudulent claims to exemption from Health Services charges; and

Investigating cases of potential or suspected fraud involving practitioners.
