Welcome to the Equality Unit at the CSA
The Equality Unit at the CSA was established in May 2000, with the appointment of an Equality Schemes Manager. The Unit also employs an Equality Researcher and an Equality Assistant.
Public authorities are required to promote equality of opportunity and good relations in carrying out their functions, under Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
The Equality Unit at the CSA is responsible for undertaking equality work within the CSA. Click here for further information on what we do with regards to Equality in the CSA.
The Unit also provides a range of equality services to other organisations across the Northern Ireland Health and Social Services. At the moment we provide services to nine core clients. Click here for further information on our external equality Services.
An important part of our work is delivering and commissiong training with regards to Section 75. We deliver general equality awareness training as well as more focused training, e.g. on consultation and on Equality Impact Assessments. We also commission training on disability awareness and deaf awareness on a regular basis. Click here for further information on our Training activities.
We also undertake research and consultancy projects on equality issues for external clients. We are interested both in people's access to and experience of using services and in the management side, i.e. the management and delivery of services. Click here for further information on our equality Research.
